Introduction to Adobe Lightroom Course (1 day)
This one day Adobe Lightroom course is for anyone who wants to efficiently manage and edit their digital photography collections. This course is aimed at photographers, both beginner and advanced, as well as those in marketing roles.

Our top priority is your safety. Courses will be limited to 4 delegates per session with strict social distancing restrictions in place. The University have put in special measures to ensure all areas within our building are sanitised regularly. Special attention is paid to the cleaning of desks, chairs, screens, keyboards, mousemats and mice.
Due to the situation, the on-site restaurant is not yet open, so we are unable to provide catered lunches until further notice. We encourage you to bring lunch and refreshments, although we will have drinks and refreshments available with a good supply of hand sanitiser and antibacterial wipes.

Lightroom Overview
Adobe Lightroom provides all the tools to you need to bring out the best in your photography. Lightroom includes powerful new ways to manage and organise your photographs to optimise your workflow. From enhancing colours and make dull-looking shots more vibrant to removing distracting objects and straightening skewed shots.
Our one day Lightroom training course is ideal for newcomers to Lightroom and those with limited experience with the software.
The course teaches you the entire Adobe Lightroom workflow from importing your photographs, to enhancing them, and then finally preparing them for export.
The training covers all the Adobe Lightroom modules including the library, develop, map, slideshow, print, book and web modules. We do not split these modules across separate courses like other providers.
Special attention is paid to the develop module as this contains a lot of the power of Lightroom.
Course Outcomes
By the end of the training course, delegates will be able to use Adobe Lightroom to perform the following :
- Effectively organise and manage large collections of photographs
- Understand the histogram and identify image problems
- Enhance photographs beyond what the camera provides
- Retouch photos and add special filters and effects
- Output photo collections for publishing to print or web
Course Requirements
To attend the Introduction to Adobe Lightroom course you should have experience using either the Windows or the Mac operating systems, be capable of basic file management and know how to use standard menus and commands.
No previous design or graphics/image editing software experience is required, however, a basic knowledge of photography, a bit of creative flair and an eye for detail are always helpful. Previous experience using any of Adobe's Creative Suite software is also beneficial but not essential.
Course Description
The Adobe Lightroom course starts with a break down of the Lightroom interface. We look at what is contained within each of the Lightroom modules. The library, develop, map, slideshow, print, book and web modules are all covered on this course.
The Library module provides the opportunity to view, sort, manage, organise, compare, and rate the photos in your collections. It’s the primary module for cataloging photos after importing them into Lightroom. It also allows us to pick the photographs that we might want to add to our output projects. The Map module is also covered at this point to allow us to add or edit any GPS information provided by the camera.
The Develop module lets you enhance your photo's colour and tone to give them a more professional and finished look. The develop tools also include red eye, spot removal and various filters including graduated and radial types. All the adjustments you make in Adobe Lightroom are nondestructive so any changes can be undone.
The slideshow, print, book and web modules all provide customised output from Lightroom. The course looks at each of these in detail so that you can easily output photography collections in professionally formatted templates for screen and print. This includes video presentations, coffee table style photography books and custom picture packages.

Course Trainer
Bjorn is an Adobe Certified Instructor and Adobe Certified Expert in Photoshop, the industry recognised certification for Adobe products.
He has been involved in working with and training Adobe products for over 15 years. He has a wealth of experience using Photoshop and Lightroom for editing digital media for use in print, web and video campaigns.
Having insights into both the design and development worlds, he is able to understand the capabilities of design packages such as Illustrator, Animate CC and Photoshop as well as develop with server side platforms such as PHP.
Course Software
The trainers of our Adobe training courses are familiar with most previous versions of Adobe's Creative Suite and therefore will be able to guide your learning no matter which version of the software you have. We try to provide course content that is generic to versions CS3 to CS6, but your trainer will also showcase the features of the latest version. Currently we now demonstrate the functionality of the Creative Cloud suite.
Course Location
This Adobe Lightroom course is run from our rooms on Jubilee Campus in Nottingham, which is part of the University of Nottingham's Innovation Park. These are serviced by a state-of-the-art tram system allowing easy access to the city centre as well as direct hourly rail services from London, Liverpool, Manchester, Birmingham, Derby and Leicester.
